1. Where is the Women's Center at Harvard?
    • The Harvard College Women's Center is located in the basement of Canaday Hall, a freshman residence hall on the North side of Harvard Yard. The Women's Center can be accessed through Entryway B (by stairway) or D (elevator-accessible). During the school year, we are open Monday to Friday 9am-5pm and Monday to Thursday 6pm-10pm.
  2. What does the Women's Center have to offer?
    • The Women's Center is a space dedicated to student use—for student organization meetings and events. Click here to inquire about reserving space in our conference room, our lounge, or to use our full kitchen. Additionally, we have a comfortable 'hang out' area with a plasma television, DVD player, couches and chairs, a full library of books and DVDs, and computer workstations. We serve coffee and hot cocoa around the clock at no charge!
  3. Who is welcome at the Women's Center?
    • Everyone! The Women's Center welcomes people of all genders to its programs and services. Virtually all of our programs and events are open to any student, although the focus of our work is on issues of specific interest to women and women's groups. Faculty, staff and alumni are also welcome at most Women's Center events and programs.
  4. How do I become part of the Women's Center's staff as an student intern?
    • Intern selection will happen again in March 2010. Email us to be placed on a mailing list for more information.
  5. How do I obtain funding from the Women's Center for my project or event?
    • The Women's Center oversees funding for student events and projects through the Ann Radcliffe Trust. Click here to learn more about the Trust and the grant application process.
  6. Why do we have a Women's Center?
    • Despite the fact that the Harvard student body is now over 50% female, women continue to be underrepresented in political leadership, tenured faculty positions, and high-powered careers. In a university traditionally dominated by men, the Harvard College Women's Center exists to provide a safe space to promote dialogue and programs addressing current women's and gender issues.
